I’m an Arab American character and mixed media animator who specializes in the combination of 2D digital animation with physical media. I enjoy exploring character dynamics, as well as showcasing a range of emotions and experiences using a variety of mixed media. The physical element adds a whole new dimension of tangibility through the screen that I really love, and working with my hands makes the work feel all the more like a piece of myself. While I pull from my real life, fantasy and science fiction are other major influences of mine, and I enjoy including an element of the unreal into my work wherever possible.

 

I’m also very passionate about incorporating my culture and life experiences into what I create. Born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan, I was lucky to grow up in the large and thriving Arab community found there. Much of what I create is for the sake of my younger self, focusing on representation and telling stories they would have loved to see. Portraying my family’s background and culture in a way that celebrates it is something that really drives me, and I hope to reach those who are trying to see themselves in the media the same way I was.
